Giant Sigh. And SoLa Boutique

Small vent session here. I really like this store in Taipei called Muji. They have a really wide variety of stuff and its all very minimalistic (is that a word?) They often play this wierd Irish/Scottish background music, and they have CDs of their music called BGM 1-14 or so (stands for BackGround Music). I bought BGM 4 a while ago, and then I accidentally got one a while later, because I forgot I already had 4. So naturally, I was upset at being deprived new Irish music. AND THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH 7!!! I am incompetent sometimes. Why, Muji, why do your CD cases have to all look like this?!Ok, rant over. Today I went out with my friends Persis and Myrna to the Triangle, this shopping center/ mixed use development near the UT campus. They have a boutique, SoLa, which has some adorable clothing.

This dress was very cute, I loved the print. Persis told me to pose like an Urban Outfitters model. I think the angst really highlights the dress.

At first I thought this was a romper, but it is actually a dress. Or, well a tunic that I probably should have been wearing with jeans. I looooved this print even more. Plus, who doesn't want giant pockets?

Also, do you know what I am desperately in need of? HEELS! I am tallish, but 5'7" or 5'8" (I don't trush the doctors office's measurements) is not too tall for heels by any measure. I own too many flats. How are these? I saw them on the Style Rookie. From the Gap.
Also, aren't these cute too? Found 'em on Mod Cloth. I have this suspicion that wedges are easier to balance and walk in than pumps...and stilettos. So i'll start there.

Packing for Taiwan

Ok, so I'm taking a small trip to Taiwan this week to look at apartments with the family. I usually really hate packing, so I thought turning it into a blog post would take some of the ugh out of it. The picture above is my five outfits plus a pair of shoes and this necklace I love. I got the shoes on sale at Nordstrom the other day, and they match almost everything. I think the brand is dolce vita. I got the necklace at Buffalo Exchange (this vintage store on Guadalupe) and it also goes with anything. It had leaves on it I think.
I'm smiling at my dog Mabel. Shirt from the Brass Plum; Levi jeans.
Pose! Dress from Anthropoligie. Vintage ring and Nike watch
This picture is sort of terrible, but I like the light, so I put it up. You can still see the outfit. Urban Outfitters shirt; skirt from Thailand (I think). Vintage belt.
Mabel likes packing less than I do. She'd rather be sleeping.

So I'm not exceptionally excited about this trip; all we're gonna do is look at apartments. But at least i'll be stylish while doing that.
Ciao!

I attempt to explore 2011 resort

So, recently I have had this guilty feeling about not paying attention to runway shows. So much amazingness I am not seeing! Tonight I had nothing to do, so I went to Style.com and picked collections from the 2011 resort wear shows based on how cool the designers names were (or in some cases if I actually knew/liked the designer). Here's stuff I luuurved

1 and 2 are 3.1 Phillip Lim; 3, 4, and 5 are Bottega Venata; 6 is ADAM

1, 2, and 3 are Carolina Herrera; 4 and 5 are Burberry Prorsum; 6 is Luca Luca

1 and 2 are Cynthia Rowley; 3-6 are Emilio Pucci

Ah, Resort. I think this is an easy way to ease oneself into looking at runway collections, as they are clothes people would actually wear and a bit more superficial (i.e: no deep philosophical meaning behind the clothing). Although, this could be considered more difficult to look at, since haute couture shows never fail to entertain. We'll think about that when we get there...
So long,
Ema

Outfit!

After much begging and cajoling, I have a picture of my outfit. Its not the best picture of me, but you get the idea.

Outfit.. and the past few days

Emma Here-
Ok, so I'm wearing an outfit I actually like a lot today, but my stooopid sister will not take pictures of me, so I can't inform all you riveted viewers properly. I can describe it, however. I am wearing an american apparel Helvetica tee (it has a letter in the font Helvetica) with the letter E, of course, a blue sort of paisley and flower printed skirt that is belted with a skinny plain leather belt. Then I'm wearing pink mid-shin socks with little roses and black lace up boots previously seen here. It may or may not clash horribly, but I like these boots a lot.

I just got back from a tea party at my friends house, and I must say, I love tea party fashion. So fresh and springy and prim! I was wearing a much more old fashioned style of tea party dress from the other party guests, but I didn't feel out of place with their much shorter cottony dresses. It all went well together. Thats me in the white dress. :)

I also channeled my inner hipster yesterday by wearing skinny jeans, sort-of Keds, v-neck shirt, and lots of brass jewelry. Ok, maybe besides the jewelry that is all more resemblant of a male hipster, but whatever. I wore wayfarers.

Now I'm trying to think of other things that have happened to me. I got a haircut! I have my bangs back (I missed them) and more layers, so more curliness. All good.

And so now, dear riveted viewers, I must go.
Au revior!

And So...

My dear friend Elizabeth is over, and we (Lili, Elizabeth, and I) are making hideous clothing. We are using my mom's spiffy sewing machine that looks like its from the 80's and fabric we got at the fabric market in Taiwan. Its polyester rainbow tie-dye!!! Elizabeth is making it into a skirt with pleats and a polyester silver sash, and let me tell you: the fit is amazing, but the fabric is gag-worthy. But that is really nothing compared to what I attempted to make. It is the same fabric and it is a bandeau bra top thingy!! Its horrible!
So, switching topics, being inspired by my fashionable friends and several fashion blogger geniuses, I have decided to expand my wardrobe. I know everything I own, and not much of it is versatile enough. I am going to spend all my money on clothes for then next month or so... I hope that works. This may be a really bad idea and I'm just so tired it think its brilliant... But I think i will start with Goodwill sometime in the next week. They have cheap stuff. I am rambling. Good night!!

Buffalo Exchange

Yesterday I went to Buffalo Exchange, where you can get vintage clothes for cheap. Of course, I bought lots of stuff.

Boots!

You may or may not know, Emma and I (Lili) will be moving to a little island called Taiwan this summer. Now, in this process, we have been clearing out our closets and giving away clothes we no longer need (It had to happen). While we do this, we come across a lot of older trends from past years. Recently, though, a fashion popped up that hasn't yet gone out of style. That's right, boots. We can't wear them for a while because, face it, we're in Texas, but we wanted one last chance to show our shoes!

From top: emma's cowboy boots, Emma's combat boots, My Uggs, Emma's Hunter Wellies, and My Rain Boots

Heading out to Dinner

T-shirts are something we love. They are very versatile, and in Austin it gets so hot that all you want to wear are t-shirts and tank tops.
Yesterday we were about to go out to dinner at the wonderful 24 diner. Its downtown, and there are all sorts of trendy people there, so dressing stylishly (but still casually) is a must.

This is lili (wearing a t-shirt!). I love her angsty model pose.

On Lili: Old Navy v-neck t-shirt and shorts and Target belt
On Emma: Brass Plum shirt, Levi's jeans

Psst!

We wanted to tell you a bit about ourselves.

You may know more about Emma at this point (she has been writing so far) but- a refresher: she rows competitively and besides school does not do much else. She enjoys traveling and of course, shopping.

Lili, who will be writing from this point to the rest of the post, enjoys running, shopping, very unhealthy food and sitcoms. As well as being complimented by her sister.
So long readers, and until we meet again!

This summer

Emma here...
We live in Austin, Texas [Live music capital of the world-Lili says]. You may know, it is wicked hot here. It is the beginning of summer, and I just got back from a rowing regatta. There was a dearth of chic clothes there, as you can imagine. If not, let me paint a picture: unisuits and spandex rampant, as well at a healthy (or unhealthy) dose of crocs. (Disclaimer: I just found this picture on the internet, it's not me or my team.) I'm definitely in the mood for fashion. As for Lili: she is bored from missing her dear sister, and recently went shopping at Old Navy. And so, lets dive right in.

Hello

Helooo! I am Emma. A Possibly stylish girl who likes: shopping, clothes, modeling clothes in outrageous poses, and taking pictures of modeling clothes in outrageous poses. These I feel are good skills to have in a blog about...clothes. I do not claim to know anything about fashion, but do like clothes a whole lot. We shall see how this goes...
