are you getting that i suck at titles yet?

This is probably the strangest outfit I have worn in a while, mostly because it is insanely mismatched, and contained slight references to a number of things, if-I-do-say-so-myself (one thought there, I know its not meant to have the dashes, I am not grammatically confused...I hope). Anyways, It reminded me of the J.W. Anderson SS11 collection, in the pattern of my skirt, which looks EXACTLY (ahem mostly-sorta-kinda) like the pattern in this outfit:

and then the boots, well, I may be ever so slightly embarrassed to own fake uggs, but these were 20 bucks and I was pretending they were like the Chanel FW10/11 ones, which would certainly have been more convincing if they were covered in shaggy fur...maybe thats a good DIY project? Anyways, sorry the pictures are so...down-to-earth (theres that hyphen thing!), or maybe crappy is the right word. I actually like the second one though.
Turtleneck from Old Navy, skirt from Thai market, boots from target, vintage belt.

from vietnam

It's been forreeevver since my last post. Sorry about that... a quick recap of my last month or so:
-I went to Vietnam for Thanksgiving vacation, during which I shopped excessively
-I am about to take all my finals
-I am seriously dreaming about how awesome my trip to America in a few weeks will be

And that is all. My life is so dull...except for the whole international vacations thingy. I bought a few things in Vietnam, like this absolutely adorable fish shaped purse and my mom got me this silk dressing gown that makes me feel like a batty old former movie star. It goes surprisingly well with regular clothes. I pretty much wore this or variations of this outfit the whole trip, which I am of course not ashamed to admit... :)

BLAM!!

This is an outfit post like no other!! Ok, not really. It's just that its three outfits in one post, so ya know...

This is what I wore out to dinner on Sunday night, so like 4 days ago. Those boots! They are my moms, and since she is letting me break them in, I have been wearing them constantly. The only objectionable thing about them is the little metal decal things. I am not a big fan of studs, and these are approaching that sort of thing. But the quality and shape of them is great.

Ralph Lauren polo shirt: thrifted; leggings: Nordstrom; bag: Thailand (a market)

I wore this today because it was "Halloween", meaning the closest school day to Halloween, so we were supposed to dress up. And I dressed up as a hipster. Which is kinda how I always dress, so that may be why no one believed me when I said I was dressed up. I had ironic glasses though!

same shirt; Levi's jeans

I wore this yesterday. I think I wore the exact same thing a few weeks ago, but I didn't post it then. Pardon the awkward pictures lately, this is what happens when I prefer the iPhone camera to my real camera (with tripod) so all the pictures require a mirror or some sort of balancing act with me trying to get into the shot and simultaneously take an actual picture. And no, of course no one else wants to take the pictures for me, no one is that helpful.
shirt: Nordstrom; dress: Anthropoligie; tights: Nordstrom
detail of the tights
Dress/shirt detail. I am a sucker for ruffles, especially in this gunmetal grey color.

And finally, this is what I wore on Monday, cause I did a shit-ton of laundry on Sunday and EVERYTHING was clean, including this dry-clean only skirt, which reminds me of both goth-ness and cutesy schoolgirls at the same time. I don't fully understand my fascination with frilly ridiculous skirts, but as long as its balanced out, its so much fun to wear things like this.
t-shirt: the Gap; skirt: Forever 21; tights: the Gap
THOSE BOOTS :)

nuevos zapatos

The most recent additions to my ever-growing shoe collection. The pair of peep-toe pumps are the ones from Aldo, and I'm not sure where the boots are from, but they are my moms and I have been given the task of breaking them in, which is not hard, because they seem to go with everything! Sorry the picture is in black and white, the shoes are both black anyway and the background of the picture was a weird yellow.

i wanna live in greenland...

Or Iceland. I don't exactly confuse the two, but in my mind they are equally cool. I might think differently if I actually lived in Greenland and shoveled snow every day and skied into town. Am I stereotyping here? There probably isn't much fashion in Greenland, its all parkas and boots. But you never know.

Its really quite sad, lately I want to be anywhere but here. Maybe because here I have mountains of homework and laundry (this is seriously the bane of my existence, why can't we just get a live in maid? EVERYONE else at my school has them) and the weather is dismal: hot and humid and never cold or rainy enough. My hair is like an afro guys, which is actually a hilarious image, since my hair is like two feet long. Like the Topshop Unique show!

This entire weekend I have been sitting around my house and wearing only pjs. I even took pictures of them. Look, they have fancy effects!!! Ok, only the second one, but it was so boring on its own... And sorry to do the whole taking-a-picture-in-front-of-a-mirror thing, It was just there and THAT IS MY NEW IPHONE ISN'T IT BEAUTIFUL!! Sorry, vapid teenager moment.

t-shirt: the Gap; pj pants: anthropoligie, fake glasses (yes I am one of those people who wears fake glasses sometimes. hate on me if you will.)
Dramatic lighting; angsty pose! (Orchestra music in the background!!) Hell yes! Sweater: Nordstrom (kids section, I don't even know how to defend that, I'm 5'8") tank top: also Nordstrom; pj pants: Jockey.

And what I have been doing is hanging stuff up on my wall. I only moved in what, three months ago? Hahahah, at least I'm doing it now.

Only the frameless stuff is up now, but I am gonna fill in the rest later. We have concrete walls, so everything will have to be stuck up with plasticky something.

All the framed things, plus a few more postcards, plus the sticky wall thing trash. Any idea how to stick a quilt to a concrete wall? Its a dilemma.

Blughhh

Hello everyone! I feel like I've been neglecting this blog. I am deeply sorry! I have been getting an education these past few weeks, while moping about it. And wishing I could understand all the references on Hazel Cill's twitter page. Seriously? Czech surrealist filmmakers?! And that sums up my last few weeks. I haven't bought anything new lately, I can't wait to shop vintage in Austin. I think I need some high-button boots. Like those ones from the 1910s. My life would be complete. And a peter-pan collar dress. I'm such a consumer. Sigh. I am patiently waiting for Lula, when does it come out? So thats all folks. That whole thing made no sense....

former prom dress

My mom wore this dress when she was in her 20's, I can't believe she was so tiny! It barely fits me, I would compare it to wearing a corset. I can zip it up just fine, but when I want to take a deep breath, it's sorta impossible. Also, I think I'm busting a few seams every time I sneeze. Its hilarious. But I love the dress, its very ballerina-esque.

how i spend my time

Sitting on my kitchen floor eating cereal. What else is there to life? In lounge clothes :) Nike shorts, Nordstrom cardigan, Calvin Klein tank top.

This is what I wore to school yesterday. The skirt is just so amazingly poufy, its ridiculous. the tank top is really pretty on the back, but sorta plain on the front. It has the unfortunate effect of making me look like a wrestler. I had to wear the cardigan to school cause we have a dress code :( I wore it with flats (my sperrys) but I am sooo excited about these shoes! I got them for the winter formal at my school, but I know I won't be able to wait to wear them out, so I'm already thinking of what I can wear them with. The only problem is that they are peep-toed, and I have freakishly long toes. I'll post a better picture soon, they look kinda weird in this one.

All I feel like doing lately is watching Amile and drinking affogatos. I have never even had one, so I'm not sure why I would want one, but they suit my mood for some reason. I'll just have to settle for chai lattes. And no Amile.

I buy stuff...brilliant title, I know

I am in Thailand as you may have heard/seen, and one of the things I love about Northern Thailand is the Mountain Tribes and their awesome beautiful handicrafts. You may have heard of the Karen people, more commonly referred to as the long neck tribe, they are the ones who put brass coils around their women's neck from 5 years old to stretch their necks out to resemble those of a swan. Its a bit disturbing, and sounds painful, but the effect is fascinating and I wish I had some pictures I took to show you, but they are all film. Anyways, I bought this bracelet at a Karen village, its kinda more touristy than traditional, but its a thin version of the brass they put around their necks.

I also got these rings at an awesome silver shop we always go to in Chiang Mai. I love the turquoise set in the bigger one.
This purse and skirt are things I got at the night market and a market in town, I love all the crazy patterns and embroidery, and the pom poms on the purse. The skirt was so cheap, the lady at the night market stall had a huge stack with skirts of of every color, its was quite a sight. (Worn here with a Gap t-shirt and vintage belt.)

Behold!

...This picture I have edited on photo manager beyond recognition! My outfit from few days ago, but I wore a purple sweater over the t-shirt. I kinda look like a zombie, dotcha think? Groovyness...

CHIANG MAI!!!

It is Autumn break at my school, and my family is in THAILAAAANDD! Sorry to be obnoxious, I just love it here. Part of it is the hotel we stay at, the Chedi. To put it plainly- it is awesome . Just being here makes me feel more stylish.

i got nothin' to say.

Seriously. Sometimes I question the validity of me having a fashion blog. I don't take fashion risks, or set trends. I don't take amazing street style pictures or have interesting opinions on runway shows. But I like fashion nonetheless, so I guess I'm just as entitled to a fashion blog as anyone. That being said, I have nothing to report. Well, thats not exactly true.

I took some pictures with my film camera recently, I think they were color, but I don't remember. I am excited to get them developed, which will occur as soon as I figure out how to say that in Chinese.

My hair is driving me crazy. I have split ends like nobody's business, and my bangs have grown out alarmingly quickly to be this lump on my face, which needs some sort of shaping/trimming. I am just scared to get a haircut in Taiwan cause I might be like "take off an inch" and they cut it all off! I have ridiculously long hair at the moment, and I'm thinking I'll tone it down a bit so I don't look like a crazy old lady. I've just gotta layer it more. Or chop it all off. I am torn between those.

And...that is all. Time for European history homework.

Thanks if you got to the end of this!

the nightmarket

Kendra drinking this tea that comes in a liter cup...strange?

Me eating this thing that is strawberries on a stick coated in sugar. Yum. Iris wants some, you can tell.

I went to the night market this weekend, which was very interesting. Its a very Taiwanese thing, but also a very new and modernized thing. Its basically like all these stalls and cheap clothing and interesting food. We took sticky-pics, these little pictures with little hearts and sparkles on them. VERY Asian. Anyways, thought I would post these.

Some people just don't get me...

shirt from Urban Outfitters, skirt and tights from Nordstrom, Hunter wellies.

So today I went out for a few hours with my sister then my friends around our neighborhood. I woke up at 11 and left at around 11:10, so I think its impressive that I even managed to look presentable when i went out. Lately I have been wearing lots of mismatching colors and ridiculous patterns. I have been asked if i do this on purpose, but I actually don't. I have been more focusing on shape and fit of clothes than the colors being all matching. Its weird to me when a color repeats itself more than two times in an outfit. So SOMEONE *cough cough jane cough* told me that my outfit did not match at all, plus a whole heap of other drivel that I ignored while eating a rice triangle wrong. She pointed this out too. So now I am going to be wearing EVEN MORE mismatching colors and patterns to annoy you dearie. Just you wait.
Also, apparently nobody wears wellies in Taiwan. This concerns me, cause it rains ALL THE TIME. Do people just let their feet get wet? Maybe if I wear mine enough, people will get their usefulness.

fishtail

I was thinking about this hairstyle today and ended up doing it on like 5 people, but I wanted to do one on me since I have really long hair. It turns out its not so difficult. Sorry the image is so bad. My camera is kinda...not good.

double outfit post

Looking super intense, lawl. I was going for a kind of aremy punk look. Vintage boots, gap cardigan, gap t-shirt, nrodstrom jeans, necklaces: vantage and forever 21
In this on im wearing the same gap cardigan, a vintage belt, target shorts, and an urban outfitters t-shirt.
And my room! I am so excited because it is mostly done being unpacked, and I really like the way it turned out.

Winter, c'mon

And then I changed my mind

Were going out to dinner in a few minutes, so I didnt feel like wearing a long, flowy, purple skirt in public, plus I was feeling more...edgy? Thats almost comical coming from me, but i watched the girl with the dragon tattoo last night, so I feel very hardcore. And I put this on. The picture is kinda bad, but it...showcases? the feeling of the outfit best. And now i sound all snobby and pretentious. Just trust me guys, the other pictures suck. Tank top: target; Cardigan; Urban Outfitters; jeans: nordstrom; boots; Goodwill

This is my guilty conscience post

Hey guys,
So I've been feeling guilty since I haven't been posting anything but polyvore sets for the last month. Also, I just yelled the hell out of my sister for no good reason...but I apologized. So anyways, I took a picture of my outfit today, and it is a Saturday kind of outfit, cause I lack the balls to wear this kinda thing to school. Which, speaking of, is a whole separate rant (next post guys). Then i felt like finding any and all the pictures i have taken of outfits or my friends have taken in the last tree or so months. So here goes. From Facebook:
hmmm... pardon the size discrepancy...and also the manical faical expression.I'm a strange duck. in the little one i'm wearing a Nordstrom cardigan and tank top. in the big one its the same cardigan and an american apparel skirt and urban outfitters t-shirt.
This one is actually from a photo shoot I modeled for my friend, and its not my dress or hat, but the dress is the makeup person's and its Rodarte for Target. I LOVE THIS DRESS AND WILL OWN IT SOMEDAY.
This amazing picture was taken by my dear-darling friend Elizabeth, and I'm wearing her dress and I think my other friend Sinead's shirt and definitely her scarf. And those are 3-D movie glasses, folks. I'm just keepin' it real.
This is an awesome boutique I found in section seven, this famed factory reject/ knockoff street in Tain Mu. This place is actually much higher- end than the other stores there. It is still pretty affordable though, and carries one size and one copy of a piece of clothing, mostly from Korean brands. And of course, it's all tiny Asain sizes. I fit some of it, but I was short on cash on the day I visited, so I got this awesome grey scarf in lieu of some dress or shirt. This was a while ago, so I don't remember perfectly.

This was at our uber chic little boutique hotel we stayed at until our apartment was done being renovated. We liked it...thats an understatement. There was a TV over our jacuzzi tub, people! And a free mini-bar. We were practically in tears when we had to leave. But ANYWAYS! I'm wearing a Papaya dress as a vest, a Calvin Kline tank top, and an American Apparel skirt.

And, finally, todays outfit. I started out wearing overalls and a blue t-shirt, but it was not meant to be. :) I decided that I wanted something more girly to wear, and so: viola! Tank top: Target; belt: vintage; skirt: hand-me-down.

And there you have it, folks, my last few months in review...but not really. Hahaha. Enjoy!
