I arrive in Taipei

Here I am! We got to Taiwan last night, so I am very jet lagged, but I will try not to senselessly ramble. We went to the Taipei 101 mall to shop and eat lunch. The mall is very upscale/upmarket, but they do have some actually affordable stores like Esprit, and this awesome bookstore called Page One. I am slightly ashamed to admit that their stationary section is my favorite, but really, they have such classy/adorable office supplies in Taiwan. I also checked out their magazine section, and was slightly surprised not to find some Japanese fashion magazines I was looking for. But its all good, I'm sure they would have been 15 bucks or so anyway. Well, 500 NT :) I got this dress at Esprit. Please ignore the awkward trying-to-take-a-picture-in-my-hotel-room picture.

Of course, I also had to check out the Miu Miu store, because my parents are not so into me dragging them into designer shop after designer shop just to window shop, but I chose to solely look in Miu Miu. Of course, I immediately wanted everything in there, but perhaps when I'm all growed up I will have more money to spend on Miu Miu dresses. And shoes. And bags. And coats.

Fairy skirt

So, I've been buying lots of shoes lately, and in the shoe boxes is a lot of tissue paper. I am sort of a pack rat, so I couldn't bear to get rid of it, and saw some creative potential in it. And viola! Tissue paper skirt!

I shop too much

So, some really great outfit posts coming up soon. I have have been buying lots of new clothes, which I can justify completely. It is the end of summer, so this is back to school shopping, plus there aren't so many good stores in Taiwan, so I have to stock up now. There, thats done. Anyway, I haven't taken any new pictures, even though I have been wearing cute outfits. You'll just have to trust me on this.

Completely unrelated to clothes, but completely related to fashion: I want a Vespa. And a Rimowa suitcase. These ones:

That is all.

the ankle booties

So, I sorta really really love these shoes, but I just got two neew pairs of shoes, so I dont really need them. On the other hand, there are some $55 knock-off ones I saw in the Delia's catalog. I was justifying my possible purchase with polyvore [angels sing]. I think i would wear them with this. But, aside from the skinny jeans, I own none of this outfit. I'll have to get inventive.

I'm still up!

You know whats really terrifying? Bouchra Jarrar's Fall Couture show.
Bouchra Jarrar Fall 2010 CoutureBouchra Jarrar Fall 2010 CoutureBouchra Jarrar Fall 2010 CoutureBouchra Jarrar Fall 2010 Couture
So, first picture. This style of shirt is sorta creepy, and the model herself is a bit disconcerting, what with her intense facial expression and her hair being slicked back to baldness. Second picture. How is someone 6 feet tall this skinny?! Am I being ridiculous, or is she really THAT SKINNY??!!? I can't tell, maybe its the light shining from behind her. Still, even for a model, doesn't she look too skinny? Third picture. SAME THING. I can see all of her ribs. Please honey, eat a piece of chicken or something. AND FOURTH PICTURE. GAHHHH OHHH MY GOD. Is her head on backwards?!?!? You can't tell.
Another thing: whats at all good about doing a HAUTE COUTURE show with black and white as you primary colors? My interpretation about Haute Couture is that it is big, ostentatious, thought provoking, crazy. This was so simple, and tame. It wasn't even good simple, the styles were... weird. I feel immature saying this, but I do't know how else to put it. Its just not my cup of tea...at all. Not my species of tea leaf.
But, on the other hand, is Couture the same thing as Haute Couture? I sound very dumb if it isn't...
I'll leave you with that. Sorry Bouchra, I do not like this collection.

I wear an outfit (as usual) and I augment my bangs

So today was very eventful. I started the day with a rousing trip to the travel clinic for (score!) no shots. Bee tee dubbs, the travel clinic is where you go when traveling to scary third world countries and don't want to get measles and mumps and encephalitis and malaria and typhoid. So I shall not be dying so soon, folks. AND SO THEN! I did something a bit more entertaining. I went to the Forever 21 in the Domain, this suuuper hoity-toity mall that all my readers will know, as you are all my friends in Austin. As far as I know... :)

I was actually surprised at how little I liked there, but then again, I've only been there once before, and it seems very mainstream. Even if I feel like a wannabe hipster every time I go into Urban Outfitters, they have...I dunno. Stuff not marketed for "typical teenagers" which is sorta a phrase I made up, but you know what I mean. So at Forever 21 I found some stuff with character, which is exactly what I've been looking for lately. Will possibly post pictures, but don't hold me to it.

Then I got this cool scaaf (new zealandy for scarf) at goodwill that I am still trying to figure out how to wear. It's a long rectangle, any suggestions?

And then I wore an outfit! Just kidding. I am often finding myself wearing outfits, however, this one seemed noteworthy, and by that I mean, I'll-post-in-on-the-blog worthy. Here it is!

Shirt from Brass Plum; tank top: Threads for Thought; shorts: Target; belt: vintage.
And If you were wondering about the baggish thing by my side, that would be my bag. Duh. But really, thats the new scarf tied to my bag, like so:
The bag is an old Coach bag of my mom's, but she gave it to me. The scarf is in a bow, but you cant tell...it just looks like a floppy thing.

And finally! My bangs! I was thinking the past few weeks about how I felt they were inadequate and altogether too short, so I took some inspiration from Tavi (its not like I was stalking her blog by looking at all the archives and saw she cut her own bangs one day or anything) and hacked off part of my hair to contribute to the pop culture sensation that is my bangs. Not really. But really, I cut off some hair. I was so freaked out about it after that I saved the reeeally long tuft. I dontt know what I'm gonna do with it, of course, but it seemed blasphemous to throw it out. So now my side bangs are longer and thicker. I would actually like straight across bangs, but my hair is too curly I think. We'll see, those scissors are still on the bathroom counter.

It looks kinda weird now that I see this picture...ignore the mug shot/deer in headlights look, its one in the morning, ok?

Well that was a very long post. It must be the late hour. I ate a chocolate thingy before I went to bed, so I'm gonna be up for a while...Toodles! (just kidding, I am not one of those people who says toodles)
I gotta get to bed, I'm waking up at eight to Cornershop. That'll make for some interesting morning dreams. Now I sound creepy. Good night!

Ahh, summer...

This is exactly what I want my summer to be like. I need me some classy shorts.

NEW SHOES GAHH! (and camera)

The world is suddenly very shiny. I think it is now okay to have two copies of two CD's and I will stop complaining. I may have even found God. Yes thats right, people! I have new shoes. TWO new pairs of shoes! Granted, one of those pairs is not so high fashion, on account of them being Birkestocks, but do I care? Course not! They are so comfy and preety I will wear them to heal mah feetz after wearing the other shoes I got.

Shoes from Birkenstock store
Which are high heels, and I looove them too! They are all lace up and oxfordish and awesome. Although, they really are awesome in a heinous way. But... I think I can rock this, guys!

shoes from Buffalo Exchange

And, coincedeatally, we were also at goodwill yesterday, where I looked at every camera and thought about if it would work at all, and this one was twice as expensive as the others (it was $10) and it was missing a filter, but, c'mon! It has character and grace and elegance and beauty!! Sorry for the blurry picture, its really rainy here in Austin, so the light is being weird.
